Saga Dawa Yatra: A 15-Day Spiritual Journey Through Bhutan

Scott Bauer, Founder of Usada Bali is leading a spiritual pilgrimage through Bhutan, 19th May – 4th June 2026. We share the details of this extraordinary opportunity.

We invite you to join a 15-day Yatra through Bhutan, a journey through a unique spiritual landscape, and an opportunity to step out of your usual routine and reset.

Bhutan has a long-standing tradition of pilgrimage. For generations, people have walked these mountain paths, visited these monasteries, and returned to the same sacred places over time. As we travel together in a small group, we become part of that tradition in a simple and respectful way.

What is a Yatra?

A Yatra is more than a trip. It’s a different way of travelling.

Rather than moving quickly from place to place, the focus is on slowing down and being present. We step away from daily pressures and into a steadier rhythm, one that allows time to think, reflect, and take things in properly.

What You’ll Experience in Bhutan

Over 15 days, we travel through some of Bhutan’s most important spiritual sites, including:

  • Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang)
  • The valleys of Bumthang
  • A range of smaller, lesser-visited temples and monasteries

We don’t rush the experience. At each place, there’s time to arrive, settle, and understand where you are.. not just tick it off a list.

A Slower, More Meaningful Way to Travel

This journey is designed to give you space.

Rather than focusing on seeing as much as possible, the emphasis is on experiencing each place more fully. That includes time for quiet reflection, as well as moments of shared experience with the group.

Through local relationships and guidance, we also visit places that are not always easily accessible to independent travellers.

Teachings and Guidance Along the Way

Throughout the journey, there are opportunities to take part in private ceremonies and informal teachings.

The Yatra is guided by Dorji Wangchuk (PhD), who brings both academic knowledge and lived experience of Bhutanese culture and spirituality. His approach is straightforward and grounded, helping to make complex ideas accessible and relevant.

Themes such as compassion, interconnectedness, and self-reflection are explored in a practical, everyday way.

What This Bhutan Yatra Includes

We keep the group small and the experience considered.

  • Small group size
  • Access to key spiritual and cultural sites
  • Private ceremonies and guided discussions
  • Time for personal reflection
  • A balance of comfort and simplicity

All logistics are arranged in advance so you don’t need to think about planning while you’re there.

Why Travel to Bhutan for a Spiritual Retreat?

Bhutan offers something that’s becoming harder to find—space.

Space to slow down, think clearly, and step back from the usual pace of life. The environment, culture, and rhythm of the country naturally support this.
