Description
The Balinese rebab is a bowed, spike fiddle used in traditional gamelan ensembles such as gambuh, semar pegulingan, and gong suling. Its expressive sound plays a vital role in Bali’s musical storytelling.
In this workshop, you’ll explore the rebab with experienced musician Kadek Sudiasa, who has played for over 25 years. A skilled dancer and active gamelan performer, Kadek brings deep knowledge of Balinese music and performance traditions. He is also a master instrument maker, crafting rebab for more than two decades.
Suitable for all levels, this session offers a welcoming introduction—whether you’re curious about gamelan or looking to study the rebab more seriously.
Classes are held by reservation at Sawidji Studio Gallery in Mas, Ubud. Each session runs approximately 2 hours in a relaxed, informal setting, allowing you to learn at your own pace.
